I've been wanting a Remington 700 SPS Varmint for a while, but I haven't happened across one chambered for .308. As luck would have it, I came across this one today at the gun show, for the very right price of $500 new in the box.

I tell ya, if the sight of a beautiful weapon like this doesn't stir your heart, there is just something VERY wrong with you. You're probably a hippie commie with serious "daddy" issues. Seek help.

For the rest of you, enjoy!

I've got one of those in .30-06.

No you don't. Remington doesn't make it in 30-06. They made the Buckmaster SPS which features the long action calibers, but does not feature the Varmint Barrel, (simply because the 30-06 and such are NOT varminter rounds).

Am I the only one that worries when the first 3 numbers in a serial number are 666?!

Win .308 - probably the finest infantry cartridge ever created. And the Remington 700 - just about the best general purpose bolt-action rifle of the last fifty years. You now own a true sniper rifle. With some practise and a good scope, you can make head shots at 500 metres. Colour me jealous.

Actually, once you have your tables down and have figured it out, you can easily drop stuff at fifteen hundred ards out on a calm day.
Nice buy, now lose the pic with the serial number silly.

Anything bigger than a 22-250 or .243 is ludicrous.

I've read a lot of good things about the .243, but after doing my research, I came away with the conclusion but that the .308 Win. was the best all-around choice for medium-range hunting of medium-sized game. There's a reason it's the most popular round for medium-sized game.

Reasonable minds can differ, I suppose, but that was my own conclusion.

I have a .308 Winchester. It will drive nails. From a bench I have placed 3 shots in the same hole at 100 yds. Amazing gun but I like my 25.06 Weatherby better.

Nice gun u got there.the
