« The ''Assault Weapon'' Ban ... | Front page | Obama Shocka : Obama's Atto... »

First, the answer to yesterday's question, which was:

Of the 16 firearms pictured below, how many were banned, or would be subject to being banned,  from new manufacture or importation after the effective date of the "assault weapon" ban according to the provisions of that law? (NOTE : disregard magazine capacity)

The answer is...

NONE.

Each and every one of the models shown in the image collection was legally manufactured and/or imported during the effective period of the federal "assault weapon" ban.  Of the models which underwent cosmetic redesign to comply with the provisions of the act, each of the "post-ban" models operated in the same fashion as their "pre-ban" counterparts.

Are you starting to get the point yet?  Is it sinking in yet that the federal "assault weapon" ban was a stupid law?

In any event, on to the next question:

Question 3: "COP KILLERS"

Which of the following cartridges, if any, were in the "Top 5" cartridges responsible for the deaths of police officers shot in the line of duty in 1994?

1. - .45 ACP (used in M-1911 and variants)

2. - 7.62 x 51mm NATO/.308 Win. (used in M-14, AR-10, FN-FAL, M-24, M-40)

3. - 12 Ga. shell (used in shotguns)

4. - 7.62 x 39mm (used in AK-47, most Kalashnikov AK variants)

5. - 9mm Parabellum (used in variety of pistols and rifles)

6. - .22 Long Rifle (used in wide variety of firearm types)

7. - .38 Special (used in revolvers)

8. - 5.56mm/.223 Rem. (used in M-16, AR-15, M-4, most AR variants)

9. - .357 Magnum (used in revolvers)

10. - 7.62 x 63mm/30-06 Spgfld. (used in M1 Garand, M1918/BAR)

Gee wizz...no googling?? how smart do you think we are?

Most police officers killed in the line of duty are shot with a handgun, so I am going to say 9mm, .38 special, and possibly .357 magnum.
by agesilaus  2008-11-20 20:30:31
9mm, .38, .22 and shotgun are my guesses. 9mm first because all the movies villians use them and criminals are slavish victims of fashion.

Anyone who had any sense would use a .45 or Sig .357

I'm going to choose the 9mm, .22 and .38. I believe those are the most common pistol calibers that are used in criminal activity.

No way is the 5.56 or .308 Win or .30-06 anywheren near the top. And I'll bet the .45 isn't there either - that isn't used by a lot of criminals.

I would think all of the top five are there: 12 ga., .38 spcl, .357, .22 lr, and 9mm. And I'm gonna guess the .22 and 9 would still be on the list if you excluded their use in "assualt" weapons.

But then again, the first rule of a gunfight is to have a gun, and that's easier with a handgun than a rifle, so expect AWB2 to include most handguns.

.38 special, 12 ga, maybe .357
